who: grace lee

job: associate copywriter

where: east village, nyc

why: “because on the dog days of summer, there’s nothing i enjoy more than kicking back with good food and great friends. on a rooftop. with the empire state building as my backdrop.”

• dip: “pools in new york city are a rare luxury (1). my friend veronica’s roof is a little urban oasis, tucked away in the east village.”

• dine: “burgers (2), spicy drumsticks, grilled sweet corn smothered in mexican cheese, and my personal favorite, a salad of heirloom tomatoes in every color of the rainbow (3).

• savor: “my friend lucy baked mixed berry turnovers (4) from scratch. she’s an awesome baker and makes the most scrumptious desserts.”

• pour: “what’s more refreshing on a hot day than lemonade with fresh mint (5)? i found these striped paper straws at fishs eddy, a great spot for quirky kitchen miscellany.”

• adore: “meet archie (6), veronica’s sweet, fluffy maltese. he looks like a stuffed animal!”

• plate: “i tied napkins with grosgrain ribbon and served burgers on a cake stand (7). what can i say, anything served on a cake stand just tastes better.”
