a new series highlighting our favorite ways to stay cool this summer

our air conditioners are on, we’ve made the switch to iced coffee and our sandals are in rotation. it’s officially summer, and it’s officially hot. really hot. but there are also so many delicious ways to stay cool.
please welcome frozen fridays, our new weekly series dedicated to helping you start every weekend on a chilly (in a good way!) note. first up, we’re introducing you to the best dessert you’ve never heard of: the swingle. not only is it fun to say, but it’s seriously tasty—a mini key lime pie on a stick, dipped in dark chocolate and frozen. hungry yet?
and half the fun of the swingle is the field trip that comes along with it: they’re only available at steve’s authentic key lime pies in red hook, brooklyn, a super-small, family-run operation that makes their crusts from scratch and only uses freshly-squeezed key limes.
we think there’s no better summer afternoon than a ferry to red hook, a stroll around the neighborhood—you can’t beat the new york harbor and statue of liberty views—and a decadent, messy, so-much-fun swingle.
p.s. if you can’t make it to brooklyn, don’t despair: steve sells his pies to grocery stores throughout the new york area and aims to have online ordering up and running by october—his 20th anniversary in business.
