creative director deborah lloyd is london born and raised (“opening the kate spade new york shops in london gives me an excuse to go home more often!”).
in between packing for her next trip (plaid sophie cape, black tribeca pants, mabel loafers and kennedy bag, check) and boarding her flight, we asked deborah to give us the details on her favorite destinations in the capital city.
stay: “the covent garden hotel or number sixteen hotel in south kensington.”
shop: “friday mornings always find me in portobello—i used to live in the neighborhood and it wouldn’t be a trip to london without a visit—then i’ll wander along westbourne grove. my go-tos for scooping up treasure include joseph on brompton cross, alfies antique market, the conran shop, fortnum & mason and charbonnel et walker.”
do: “i’m a tourist at heart. the red london buses still make me smile. i’ll pop by buckingham palace to see the changing of the guard and take a look at the flags down the mall. i always try to take a walk in hyde park and make time to visit the v&a museum.”
dine: “i always recommend lunch at the physic garden in chelsea. other great spots include the orangery in kensington gardens, itsu in south kensington and 202 westbourne grove. for dinner, you can find me at la famiglia, the ivy or the wolseley. and i have to say, this list wouldn’t be complete without fish and chips (for any occasion) at geales in nottinghill.”
don’t leave london without: “provisions! charbonnel et walker pink champagne truffles, yorkshire gold tea, battenburg cake, marmite and the daily mail.”
