a sneak peek at the new totes from rwanda

February 03, 2011  |   column: WHAT'S NEW

we were all so excited when we saw these pictures that we knew we had to give you a sneak preview of our upcoming collection. later this month, on our website and in our shops, we’ll unveil the colorful, carry-everywhere spring bags being created by women in rwanda through our hand in hand partnership with women for women international (wfwi). we found it amazing to see all of these women using craft skills passed down through generations to create and sell products that will help them support themselves and their families.

in addition to watching for the quinn bags you’re getting a peek at here, be on the lookout for more stories on our website about the hand in hand artisans and the world-wide network of staffers and volunteers at wfwi who make these programs possible. coming up we’ll have an interview with zainab salbi, founder of wfwi, whose memoir, “between two worlds,” describes growing up in iraq under the tyranny of saddam hussein. we’ll also have inspiring profiles of the bosnian women who created the knit wfwi products currently for sale on our website.
