the annual tribeca film festival is just four days away, and many of us have been swapping notes in the office about what films to see. note to new yorkers who live above canal: tickets go on sale monday (yay!). and if you don’t live in nyc, look for these films coming to a cinema near you in the coming months:

the pretty one: we have a feeling we’ll fall head over heels (again) for relative newcomer zoe kazan after seeing her in this offbeat comedy. her character is mistaken for her deceased identical twin sister, so she proceeds to pose as her “perfect” sister, only to later realize that her own (imperfect) life is much alluring. this is writer jenee lamarque’s directorial debut, to0.

before midnight: the years have been kind (extremely kind) to ethan hawke. but that’s not the only reason why we’re excited to see this film. the sweet test-of-time love story set against a beautiful grecian backdrop is equally as appealing.

haute cuisine: brouillade and ceps. fillet of beef en croute de sel. oui! if there is divine french cuisine involved, we’re interested. we can’t wait to see actress catherine frot in this light and playful film based on a true story about running the show in the french president’s private kitchen.

a case of you: written by and starring justin long, we have a feeling this online dating comedy, also starting siena miller, will leave us in stitches–and dominating many a brunch conversation with our friends post-film.

some velvet morning: we can’t wait to see the way director neil labute uses his signature natural lighting and handheld camera shooting techniques to bring to life the drama, chemistry and tragedy between stanley tucci and alice eve (aka: velvet).
