leanne shapton brings art and color to the new york times

March 28, 2011  |   column: DELIBERATE POLISH

we worship illustrator/author leanne shapton’s lyrical sense of color, sophisticatedly haphazard paintings and ingenious prose, so we were excited to discover her “a month of…” series on the new york times website. using a calendar grid format, shapton chronicles, in swoon-worthy little paintings, charming details of her everyday life such as “sunday walks,” “monday shower songs” and “tuesday blooms.” browsing each month’s postings is like an armchair tour of a fabulous art gallery.
